Maryaan Essa
Maryaan is a community researcher working with the Iraqi/Arabic and Assyrian communities of refugee background. She joined the Refugee and Migrant Health Research Program in 2020, and has worked on the Listening to What Matters, ECLIPSE, and Working Together projects.
My vision started when I was studying medicine; one of my dreams was to work in the research field because I believe that research can improve health care and make health services more reachable for more communities.
Maryaan lives and works on Wurundjeri Country. A person taught her some great lessons; to be open-minded and to always be ready for help. Even though he left this life at very young age, his lessons will always stay with her. This was her hero, her father.
