Madison Schulz
Maddy is a provisional psychologist and early career researcher, currently undertaking her Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) degree at Swinburne University of Technology. Maddy is a Stronger Futures CRE Scholar and works as a research assistant contributing to projects within the Resilience and Prevention Stream. Her PhD explores the impact of early childhood exposure to intimate partner violence on children’s social functioning. She is particularly interested in the impact of trauma and family violence on child development.
Maddy is excited for the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people and organisations, to gain further insight into new perspectives and emerging research on childhood trauma and resilience that will help inform her research and clinical work with children and families. She hopes the CRE will contribute to our understanding of intergenerational trauma and family violence, resilience in children and families who experience adversity, and provide hope for prevention, intervention, and recovery in a culturally safe and trauma informed way.
Maddy brings an open and curious mind, passion for learning and an eagerness to understand new perspectives and experiences. She also brings deep compassion, kindness, and a passion for providing early intervention to help shift the trajectory of mental health difficulties for young people during this vital period of development.
Maddy lives and works on Wurrundjeri Country. She is kept strong and resilient by her family, friends, dog Ruby, love for music and dancing, and long walks on the beach.
