Josef Szwarc

Jo has worked on social policy and human rights issues in a variety of governmental and non-governmental (current) settings. At his current agency - Victorian Foundation for Survivors of Torture - Jo has had a lengthy relationship with MCRI on research projects relating to the experiences of (mainly) mothers of refugee backgrounds having babies in Australia, aiming to improve outcomes and experiences.

He brings to the CRE his experience presenting evidence from research to policy makers.

Jo’s apirations for the CRE is learning ways of doing things that and communicating effectively to those who are able to do what is necessary to promote the wellbeing of families and communities.

His places of work and home are on the traditional lands of the Kulin nation. Friends with whom he can share what makes him laugh, cry and angry keeps Jo strong and resilient.
