Fiona Mensah

Dr Fiona Mensah is an epidemiologist and biostatistician whose research focuses on the social health of families and evaluation of health and social care programs to promote health equity. She is committed to supporting community-led research focusing on service improvement and the social determinants of health in pregnancy and childhood. Her research seeks to redress impacts of social adversity via provision of culturally informed strengths-based care. She works collaboratively with academic researchers, community health organisations and government departments to facilitate the uptake of evidence into policy and practice.

Her hopes are to support the Stronger Futures CRE to develop their program of learning, healing and reconciliation, and knowledge that may be carried and shared with future generations.

Fiona acknowledges the privilege that she may live and work on Boonwurrung, Wurrundjeri and Kaurna Countries and pays respect to the wisdom of the many generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of  Australia and Elders past, present and emerging. The aspiration to walk peacefully together with shared purpose helps her to stay strong and resilient.
