Aishah Jameel
Aishah is a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne and a Stronger Futures CRE scholar. Her PhD study seeks to understand what refugee background women want from equity-oriented maternity care using community-based participatory research methodologies.
Aishah hopes that the CRE will continue to work towards addressing health inequities for women and children from refugee backgrounds and advocate their stories, hopes, and aspirations for healthcare service reform that is trauma-informed and culturally safe.
In addition to being a migrant and woman of colour, Aishah brings her experience of First Nations health research, maternal and child global health research, project management, and knowledge translation to the CRE. She is excited to collaborate with, learn from, and exchange knowledge and ideas with other CRE scholars.
Aishah lives and works on Wurundjeri Country. Baking, new experiences, family, friends, and spending time at home keep Aishah strong and resilient.
